M-League will try anew to start the 2013-2014 fall season tomorrow when Sun Palace plays the Thundercats in the Division 2 game at the Oleai Sports Complex Field.
M-League was scheduled to kick off the season last Sunday, but the two matches were called off due to the inclement weather. Spring season Division 1 champion Wild Bill’s was set to meet former Division 2 champion MP United in the opener, while Inter Godfather’s was slated to collide against Korean Football Association on Saipan in the second match last weekend.
With the two Division 1 games rescheduled, it will be the sophomore team Sun Palace and newcomer Thundercats to start the hostilities in the M-League. Game time is at 6:30pm. Sun Palace debuted in the spring season of the M-League and finished the inaugural season with a second-best record of 5-1-2 (win-draw-loss).
Joining Sun Palace and the Thundercats in Division 2 are Shirley’s FC and the Women’s National Team, which will play their first game of the season this Thursday, also at 6:30pm at the Oleai pitch.
Kanoa FC, which won last season’s Division 2 with its 6-0-2 record, moved up to Division 1 and will debut against MP United this Sunday at 6pm. Defending fall season champion Tan Holdings FC will compete in the first game this Sunday at 12pm against Inter Godfather’s, while Wild Bill’s will take on Paire FC in the second match at 2pm. In the third game at 4pm, it will be KFAS versus returning Division 1 team Matansa.
Each team in both divisions will play 10 games in the fall season and the squads with the most points after the fall and spring seasons will be declared M-League champions (Division 1 and 2). The Division 2 champion will then move up to Division 1, while the last finisher of Division 1 will be relegated to Division 2.
Meanwhile, midway through the season, all 12 teams will participate in the M-League Cup set for Nov. 10. The six games in the M-League Cup will determine the seeding for the M-League Cup Tournament that will be played in spring.
