Deputy Assistant Secretary Dennise G. Mathieu of the Bureau of East Asian and Pacific Affairs, U.S. Department of State, recently visited the Palau Community College.
Mathieu was accompanied by U.S. Embassy chargê d’affaires Thomas P. Daley and political/economic specialist Joyce Isechal during her Sept. 13 visit.
PCC president Dr. Patrick U. Tellei met with the guests along with CRE vice president Thomas Taro, Administration & Finance vice president Jay Olegeriil, dean of Students Sherman Daniel, and acting dean of Academic Affairs Robert Ramarui.
Tellei gave the visitors a brief historical overview about the college and its programs. He also shared the school’s plans to add more programs to its list of courses in response to the needs of Palau and the region. In addition, Tellei stressed the importance of improving communication systems on the island, particularly the Internet connection to the outside world, to enhance learning opportunities for the various learners in Palau.
