The Tinian Marianas Lions Club held an orientation on Sunday with no less than CNMI Attorney General Joey Patrick San Nicolas among the 11 prospective Lions that attended the event at the Tinian Junior and Senior High School cafeteria.
The local Lions Club’s president, Liz Hofschneider, said that San Nicolas came with his wife, Vilma, who is also interested in joining the civic group.
Guamerica Lions Club’s Mila Alcazaren, who was assisted by Guam Galaide Lions Club’s James Terbio, conducted the orientation, which followed TMLC’s medical outreach.
Aside from the Lions Club orientation, TMLC also held a Leo Club presentation for prospective youth members. Some 20 attended the event that was conducted by Guam Spirit Lions Club’s Romy Angel.
TMLC later recognized sponsors of the TMLC medical outreach that occurred earlier Sunday. Ladyvir Canape and Paul Madriaga were also pinned for being Guiding Lions during the event.
Lions Club district governor Annabelle Dancel said her team from Guam is always ready to give their newest club on Tinian a helping hand.
"We are honored to serve our brothers and sisters [on] Tinian. District 204, through the contribution of Tinian Marianas Lions Club and other corporate community partners, hope to make this an annual event,” referring to the medical mission.
She also marveled at the passion shown by TMLC and its membership during their short stay on the island.
“The enthusiasm of the people of Tinian is exciting. We thank the Tinian Marianas Lions Club for hosting this event. We will be back in October to charter Tinian’s first Leos Club and for another round of orientation for prospective Lions.”
