The CNMI Department of Commerce’s Consumer Assistance Program will hold three town hall meetings on the Affordable Care Act, or ACA, during the month of October throughout the CNMI. The goal of these meetings is to inform the public of the provisions of the healthcare reform, how the ACA applies to the CNMI, and the role of the CAP.
A town hall meeting is scheduled on Tinian for Wednesday, Oct. 9, 2013. The meeting will be from 7pm to 8:30pm at Natibu Park.
On Rota, a meeting will be held at the Rota Mayor’s Office on Thursday, Oct. 17, from 6pm to 7:30pm.
The American Memorial Park Theater is the venue for the Saipan meeting on Friday evening, Oct. 25, from 6pm to 7:30pm.
Questions and comments will be taken at each meeting after the informative presentation portion. All of these events are open to consumers, the general public, and press.
Additionally, the CAP will hold meetings with government officials and employees during visits to Tinian and Rota as the CAP office is located on Saipan.
Created earlier this year with federal grant funds, the CNMI Consumer Assistance Program is charged with assisting health care consumers in the CNMI by informing consumers of their rights, assisting consumers to file complaints and appeals and advocating for the consumer in public policy matters. The Consumer Assistance Program’s mission is to educate, assist and protect the CNMI health care consumer.
