AGINGAN POINT, Saipan—A Star Marianas plane bound for Saipan from Tinian with six passengers on board has gone missing and a search and rescue operation is now underway.
Law enforcement agencies set up a command center at Agingan Point to coordinate the search operation.
In a news briefing held this morning at Agingan Point, it was learned that the plane left Tinian at 2am today, Oct. 6, 2013.
At 4am, the Commonwealth Ports Authority notified the CNMI Homeland Security Emergency Management about an overdue plane.
Together with the pilot, seven persons were on the plane.
The command center will issue an update later at 3pm.
