Former Commonwealth Ports Authority board chair Roman S. Palacios passed away last Thursday at the Commonwealth Health Center. He was 67 years old.
Known for his generosity and quick wit, Palacios died of pancreatic cancer, according to his younger sister, Darlene P. Macaranas.
Macaranas said her brother was the eldest of eight children of the late Jesus Muña Palacios and Anunciasion Sablan Palacios.
She said her brother’s passing would be a big loss not only to the Palacios family but also to the Tenorio family. Roman Palacios was married to Patricia Tenorio, whose family owns Joeten Enterprises, Inc.
Macaranas said if there’s any consolation, she was able to visit her brother everyday until his untimely passing last Oct. 10.
She said her brother grew up in Chalan Kanoa and went to school on Saipan before going to high school in Guam. He finished college at the University of Guam and went to work for Saipan Stevedore Co.
CPA executive director Maryanna Lizama, meanwhile, said the government agency is saddened by the passing of Palacios. CPA issued the following statement:
“Words seem inadequate to express the sadness we feel on the untimely passing of one of our former chairmen of the board of directors, Mr. Roman Palacios. He has in more ways than one contributed to the air and sea improvement and for that we are indebted to him. Our heartfelt condolences to his family as they go to through this difficult time.”
