Delta Air Lines is the newest sponsor for the upcoming 2013 Hell of the Marianas.
Delta Air Line’s Chris Concepcion announced that his company will be contributing a roundtrip economy ticket to Japan as well as logo gift items to the 100-kilometer race that will hit the road on Dec. 7. Delta Air Lines, a supportive corporate citizen, services the twice daily Saipan-Narita route.
This year’s Hell of Marianas is expected to draw more than 100 on and off-island bikers, including defending champions Jack Anderson and Jodie Willett of Australia and seven-time XTERRA Saipan winner Renata Bucher
Registration is on-going and will last until Nov. 30. Bikers can enter either in the pro or amateur categories in the solo division . The race is also open for both road and MTB bikers and will have five age group categories (in solo): 14 to 25, 26 to 35, 37 to 45, 46 to 55, and 56-and-over. Entrance fee is only $60 for solo, $120 for a two-man team, and $240 for four-man team.
The pros will fight for the cash prizes in the open road bike category. The top finisher in the men’s and women’s divisions will get $1,000, while $500 and $250 will go to the second and third placers, respectively. Amateur bikers in the solo road bike will bring home prizes, too with the first placer earning $300 and the second and third getting $200 and $100. Organizers and event sponsors will also give away special prizes to the Best in Costume, Best Corporate 4-Person Relay, and to the biker who can guess his time.
