HAGǺTÑA, Guam—The non-profit organization of Pacific Association for Radiation Survivors will be holding their general membership meeting and fundraiser on Sunday, Oct. 20, 2013, from 10am to 2pm at the Tamuning Community Senior Citizen Center.
The members of PARS continue to lobby Congress to pass congressional legislation that would include Guam in the Radiation Exposure Compensation Act Program. The people of Guam were determined to be eligible recipients since 2005, based on a report submitted by the National Research Committee, which concluded, “As a result of its analysis, the committee concludes that Guam did receive measurable fallout from atmospheric testing of nuclear weapons in the Pacific. Residents of Guam during that period should be eligible for compensation under RECA in a way similar to that of persons considered to be downwinders.”
