IT&E, the Marianas communications leader, improved network coverage for subscribers along Chalan Pale Arnold and throughout Gualo Rai with the recent installation and activation of a new GSM cell site on top of the Chong’s Building.
According to IT&E engineering manager Velma Palacios, the new tower immediately upgraded the service to subscribers in the surrounding areas. Palacios said the project is part of IT&E’s continuing efforts to improve the performance of the CNMI’s most dependable GSM network coverage
“Although we faced challenges that included weather, scheduling conflicts, construction issues, and more, the team managed to complete installation,” Palacios said.
The Gualo Rai area was previously serviced by IT&E’s location atop the Hafa Adai hotel in Garapan. The new tower atop the Chong’s Building will not only improve service in Gualo Rai as the increased capacity at the Hafa Adai site will improve performance for subscribers throughout Garapan.
Palacios credited Ramir De Leon and Inos Yamada for leading the project and acknowledged the cooperation between Nick Carreon, Rab Nawaz, the Wireless Transmission Team, and S&T Team that contributed to the project’s completion.
