The International Association of Lions Clubs in Region 2 District 204, together with Saipan Unity Lions Club, has launched its “Lion Recycle For Sight Program” on Saipan with the distribution of drop boxes where people can drop off their unused glasses and sunglasses.
The drop boxes can now be found at the Mt. Carmel Rectory Office in Chalan Kanoa, LBC Main Office in Susupe, San Vicente Catholic Church in San Vicente, Sta. Remedios Catholic Church in Tanapag and San Roque Catholic Church, the Hardt Eye Clinic on Beach Road, Garapan, and Herman’s Modern Bakery on Airport Road.
If you have used eyeglasses you no longer need, you can donate them now. Lions accept prescription and reading glasses, sunglasses, plastic and metal frames. Children’s glasses are especially needed. These used eyeglasses will be delivered to regional Lions Eyeglass Recycling Centers where volunteers clean, sort by grade, test, and package the glasses. Most of the recycled glasses are distributed to people in need in developing countries.
“Donate your used glasses and change someone’s life. Imagine if you could help a child read, an adult succeed in his job, a senior maintain her independence, and provide a community with more opportunities to grow and thrive,” said the organization in a statement.
