The Commonwealth Office of Transit Authority is giving 30-day notice that its Call-a-Ride Saipan paratransit (specialized) service will be expanded to include and serve other riders from the general public in need of transportation to get around the island.
The new service will take effect Dec. 1, 2013, and will continue until the new Saipan fixed-flex route system is fully implemented. After that, the CARS service will resume its paratransit (specialized) system serving qualified riders with disabilities and the elderly.
The Call-a-Ride Saipan is a demand-response curb-to-curb service that requires advance reservation and is a first-come, first-serve transport service; however, riders with disabilities and older adults (55 and older) have priority reservation.
New passenger policy

Children between 5 and 12 years old must be accompanied by an adult. Full name, physical and mailing address, primary/secondary contact numbers (residential and cell phones preferred), and map of residence are required upon initial reservation.
Passengers can be picked up at any location and taken to any destination anywhere on Saipan, including shopping centers, schools or college, banks, recreation or amusement centers, personal/medical appointments, community events, jobsite, and airport.

Carry-on baggage policy
Carry-on packages are permitted provided they can be placed in a location where they will not interfere with the entrance, exit, or free use of the aisles by passengers. They must not in any way compromise the safe operation of the vehicle or the safety of all passengers. The Commonwealth Office of Transit Authority offers curb-to-curb service. However, drivers may assist with the loading and unloading of packages meeting the above criteria if the passenger so requests. Visit www.cota.gov.mp to view or download the complete carry-on baggage policy and procedure.
