In a move to further increase visitor arrivals to the Northern Mariana Islands from key source markets, the Marianas Visitors Authority has announced the opening of its representative office in Taiwan.
The office, located in Taipei, will carry out trade marketing, public relations, and consumer promotions. The office will be operated by AVIAREPS Marketing Garden, which currently represents the MVA in Japan, Korea, and China.
The announcement was made at a press conference in Taipei by MVA managing director Perry Tenorio, who also attended the Taipei International Travel Fair on Oct. 18-21, 2013.
“Taiwan can become of the most important and rapidly growing markets for the Northern Marianas and represents an exciting opportunity to further diversify our visitor base,” said Tenorio. “We are looking forward to developing travel partnerships to increase the number of visitors from Taiwan to our beautiful islands, particularly through the development of direct flights during the coming years.”
Funding for the office comes primarily from a 5-percent increase in the hotel occupancy tax, which took place in April 2013. (MVA)
