The Northern Marianas College will be hosting free “Cash for College” workshops to assist students and their parents maximize scholarship opportunities that are available to students seeking to obtain a college education on Rota, Saipan, and Tinian.
These free workshops will be held on Rota, Saipan and Tinian on the following dates:
- Nov. 9 (Sat.): Rota “Cash for College” Workshop, 9am-3pm, NMC Rota campus
- Nov. 9 (Sat.): Tinian “Cash for College” Workshop, 9am-1pm, NMC Tinian’s Room D
- Nov. 16 (Sat.): Saipan “Cash for College” Workshop, 9am-3pm, NMC Saipan’s Building A
These workshops will be ongoing sessions, so participants can stop by anytime between 9am and before the end of the workshops.
At the workshops, participants will be provided with personal, step-by-step assistance in completing college financial aid forms, focusing especially on forms for the Free Application for Federal Student Aid, the Saipan Higher Education Financial Aid, CNMI Scholarship, and the TEACH Grant. Workshop participants will also be given assistance with the NMC admission application process.
In addition, those who participate in the workshop will qualify to have their NMC application fee and placement test fees waived for the upcoming spring 2014 semester. This waiver represents a savings of up to $75.
It is recommended that workshop participants bring a valid form of identification (e.g., a valid passport, birth certificate, or green card), at least three official transcripts, signed 2012 1040 tax form (2012 W-2 statements if you and/or your parents did not or will not file taxes), and/or proof of CNMI residency for 2011 and 2012 (for example, CNMI 1040 tax form, employment verification from your employer, official transcripts, voters certification, etc.)
