GUAM—ABC7 (KPPI-LP), Saipan’s only free over the air television broadcaster, is excited to announce another first for television entertainment on Saipan. Beginning Nov. 4, at 6pm, ABC7 will begin broadcasting the full line up of ABC Network and local programming on a same-day basis.
Saipan viewers will now be able to watch all their favorite ABC programs on the same day as family and friends in Guam and the U.S. mainland. To date, all network broadcast and most cable channels aired on Saipan are broadcast on a one-week delayed basis, including most news and sports programs.
Of particular importance is that Guam’s leading television newscast “Nightly News from the Pacific News Center” will air simultaneously on Guam and Saipan at 6pm nightly Monday through Friday. This gives Saipan viewers the opportunity to be kept abreast on the latest news, sports, and weather from Saipan’s largest neighbor!
ABC7’s Network entertainment programming includes such popular shows as: Dancing with the Stars, Scandal, Revenge, Castle, Marvel’s Agents of Shield, Once Upon a Time, Jimmy Kimmel Live, and the Academy Awards. Network sports programming includes College Football, NBA basketball, NASCAR racing. News Programs include: Good Morning America, Nightly News with Dianne Sawyer, World News Now, Nightly News from the Pacific News Center, and Guam Weekly News in Review. ABC7’s full program schedule may be viewed at www.abc7guam.com.
“This is an exciting addition to Saipan’s entertainment choices,” said Rex Sorensen, president of the Sorensen Media Group owner of ABC7 Saipan. “We could not have done this without the cooperation of IT&E who is providing the digital bandwidth to transmit our programming from Guam to Saipan via their undersea fiber circuits. We would like to thank Danilo “Bong” Mojica, Joy Santos, and the entire IT&E technical team for making our transmission possible.”
Local advertisers can now place their ads on the only live television channel on Saipan reaching both cable subscribers and non-cable subscribers, giving them the largest potential audience of any television channel on Saipan.
The station, along with its companion radio station POWER 99FM, is managed on Saipan by Sorensen Media Group’s island manager Tina Palacios.
Sorensen Media Group, a privately-held media and entertainment company, is the leading private broadcast company in the Mariana Islands with holdings in television, radio and internet broadcasting.
