In commemoration of the 25th anniversary of Pacific Islands Club’s grand opening, the PIC Road Race will be held on Nov. 10.
The race, which will feature a half marathon and 10K, is limited to the first 250 entries with 30 different divisions to choose from.
The half marathon will start at the PIC south parking lot at 5:45am and runners will head south on Beach Road, then make a turnaround in Garapan. There will be 10 aid stations on the way to the Garapan DPS Fire Station, the turn-around for the half marathon.
Runners can enter in the following age groups: men’s and women’s 15-20 , 21-30, 31-40, 41-50, 51-60, 61-70, and over 70. Cash prizes will be awarded to the Top 3 overall finishers in both the men’s and women’s divisions.
The 10K run will start at 6am and runners will also head north along Beach Road. Just before the Microl intersection, runners will U-turn and head back to PIC. Participants can join the U14 age group, 15-20, 21-30, 31-40, 41-50, 51-60, 61-70, and over 70. Medals will be awarded to the winners at the post-event banquet to be held at the newly built PIC Pavilion. The Top 3 finishers in each age group will receive donated prizes, while the Top 3 overall finishers in the men’s and women’s division will get $500, $250, and $150, respectively.
As an incentive for each paid half marathon entry, participants get an invite to the prerace carbo dinner on Nov. 9. After the race, all participants will be entitled to spend the day at PIC’s Waterpark for only $10. Additionally, each paid entry (half marathon or 10K) will be entered in raffle draws. More than$7,000 in prizes will be raffled off, including PIC Hinemlu Fitness Center memberships, annual PIC Waterpark memberships, and two PIC Explorer memberships. The raffle prizes also include free PIC room stays, meals and more.
Registration forms are available at any Shell station on Saipan, both IT&E outlets, the PIC Front Desk or online at Facebook/Pacific Islands Club Saipan Road Race. Entry fees include a finisher’s t-shirt, limited edition eco-bag, raffle ticket, awards lunch, and prerace carbo dinner for all half marathon racers. 10K participants may attend the prerace carbo dinner for only $15 with each paid entry.
