WASHINGTON, D.C.—Delegate Madeleine Z. Bordallo (D-GU) issued yesterday the follow statement regarding Navy Commander Nonito V. Blas Jr. earning the 2013 USS Stennis Leadership Award from the Stennis Center for Public Service Training and Development.
The USS Stennis Leadership Award is given to individuals who have demonstrated superior performance and exhibited the most exceptional leadership skills. The annual award is named after former Mississippi senator John C. Stennis, who served in the U.S. Senate for over 41 years before retiring in 1989. It recognizes an officer or enlisted servicemember who best demonstrates the values and principles of honor, courage, commitment, foresight and integrity.

He is the son of Mangilao Mayor Nonito “Nito” and Mrs. Marcella Blas. CDR Blas and his wife Denise currently reside in Silverdale, Washington.
“I congratulate Commander Nonito Blas Jr. on receiving the 2013 USS Stennis Leadership Award,” said Bordallo. “This award is a testament to his exceptional service and leadership in the U.S. Navy. I commend him for his dedicated service to our country, and I wish him the best in his future endeavors.” (PR)
