Defending champions Marianas High School remained unbeaten in the 2013-2014 Marianas Interscholastic Sports Organization Girls Soccer League.
The Lady Dolphins secured their third victory in as many games after blanking Kagman High School last Wednesday at the Oleai Sports Complex Field, 5-0. Incidentally, MHS’ first two victories of the season also came off shutout fashions. The defending champions debuted with a 4-0 win over Kagman last Jan. 29, and had similar 4-0 victory over Southern early this month.
Southern has two victories, beating Kagman in their first meeting, 2-1, and recording another 2-1 win in their second outing last Friday, 2-1. Yvonne Indalecio and Marielle Gariguez scored for the Lady Rays with the former finding the back of the net in the first half and latter getting a penalty shot in the second. Chelsea Lizama drilled the lone goal for Kagman, while scorers in the other games were unavailable, as official match reports have yet to be turned in by league organizers.
Action in the MISO girls soccer league will continue today with Kagman taking on Southern at 4pm at the Oleai pitch.
Two more regular games are scheduled and a couple of make-up matches before the league start its playoff round.
The Lady Dolphins are gunning for an unprecedented sixth straight championship this season. The defending champions won their fifth crown last year after whipping Southern in the finals, 5-0. A 1-0 win in the semis against Kagman gave MHS a return trip ticket to the finals, while Southern advanced after routing MHS JV, 5-0. (Roselyn B. Monroyo)
