MVA reaches out to 48,000 at Japan Golf Fair

The Marianas Visitors Authority joined the 2013 Japan Golf Fair on Feb. 14-16, 2014, to promote golf and other tourist attractions in the Northern Mariana Islands. The fair was held at Tokyo Big Sight and was attended by nearly 48,000 consumers, business golf reps, and media. (MVA) Resort golfing on Saipan and Rota was promoted by the Marianas Visitors Authority at the 2014 Japan Golf Fair held on Feb. 14-16, 2014, at Tokyo Big Sight. Nearly 48,000 consumers, golf business representatives, and media representatives participated in the three-day event.

“Visitors who come to the Northern Marianas to golf typically spend more money at the destination than other sports enthusiasts,” said MVA marketing manager Bruce Bateman. “As we have done since 2005, we continue to promote our golfing opportunities at the annual Japan Golf Fair. We have also been expanding our promotions to develop new golf markets in other source countries, including China.”

The MVA operated an information booth during the fair where they distributed brochures about golf courses and other tourism attractions in the Northern Mariana Islands. However, Bateman noted participation was down 14 percent this year compared to 2013 due to a record snowstorm in the area.

Next year’s fair is slated for Feb. 13-15, 2015. (MVA)
