Following hot on the heels of the very successful Tinian Hot Pepper Festival, preparation has already begun for the 2014 Tinian San Jose Fiesta.
This year’s fiesta will be officially conducted on Saturday and Sunday, May 3 and 4, although booths will begin opening for food and drinks by Wednesday, April 30.
The first major event will be a highly competitive Bottom Fishing Derby, starting at 6am of May 2, Friday, with all boats due back at the Tinian dock before 6pm for the weigh-in and recording by the Division of Fish and Wildlife.
Saturday, May 3, will feature another iteration of the Tour de Tinian 100K Mountain Bike Race, beginning at 6:30am at Kammer Beach, near the fiesta grounds. This will be followed by the official opening ceremony at the fiesta grounds and the beginning of the other local competitions.
Sunday morning will be the San Jose Mass and the continuation of the games at the fiesta grounds.
Camp grounds will be provided for those who wish to bring tents.
Mayor Ray Dela Cruz and the joint Tinian leadership invite everyone to come to Tinian and share in the island’s annual fiesta. (PR)
