Free Paseo De Marianas concert draws hundreds

Project Impact member Leo Neil Villela performs a back flip while the Resound band entertains the crowd during the first live Tourism Concert at the Paseo de Marianas Sunday night. Marianas Visitors Authority and local businesses at the Paseo sponsored the successful event. (Jacqueline Hernandez) Hundreds of CNMI community members and tourists gathered at the Paseo de Marianas on Sunday night for the first ever open-air concert at the Garapan promenade.

Sponsored by the Marianas Visitors Authority, the event featured the two hottest bands in town, Resound and Amplified Rescue Team bands, which had the crowd dancing and joining the party from 5pm to 10pm.

Despite the heavy downpour in the middle of the concert, the audience only took shelter around the Paseo De Marianas. The party continued as kids and dancers from the Project Impact Dance Group took to the dance floor and led the community for a night of revelry and fun.

Saipan Singing Superstars Kids winners Nikki Canape and JR Del Rosario also had a chance to share the limelight during the event, with performances that included singing One Little Big Dream, the competition’s theme song.

Select businesses at the Paseo De Marianas also participated, with booths and al fresco type settings. Sponsors for the event were Tan Holdings, Pepsi, Miller Lite and Western Union.

Tan Holding’s Ivan Quichocho hosted the event.
