Saipan son John Solomon has been honored and recognized by the Department of Air Force in Washington as the 52nd Logistics Readiness Squadron, 62nd Mission Support Group and 62nd Airlift Wing Civilian of the Quarter.
Solomon received the recognition for the months of April through June this year. Air Force Commander Manuel P. Perez wrote Solomon's grandparents here in the CNMI and congratulated them for their grandson's achievement. He said that during the quarter Solomon performed above his peers and became number one in his career.
Perez said during that quarter, Solomon shipped over 800 critical aircraft assets worth $90 million to repair facilities.
“Most notably, he was instrumental to the upgrade of Air Mobility Command's Supply Asset Tracking System. John single-handedly trained 80 personnel, updated 30 handheld terminals and 55 workstations,” he said, adding that Solomon's efforts have allowed the Air Force to keep its planes flying to support worldwide operations.
Apart from his commitment to the Air Force mission, Solomon is also on his way in completing two college courses toward a bachelor's degree in Business Administration. Solomon didn't fail to impress his peers with his impressive 3.92 grade point average.
Solomon also volunteered 12 hours of his time to the American Lake VA Hospital and taught 15 veterans how to operate and repair computers. He also joined competitions such as the Lacey Grand Prix at the Alternative Fuel Fair where he bagged first place for the alternative fuel vehicle he built for local youth members.
“I would be remiss if I did not recognize that John could not do all he does alone. I thank you for the son and grandson you've given to the Air Force and the support you offer him. I see a very bright future for John,” said Perez.
