Guangzhou-Saipan flights resume

Charter flights between Guangzhou, China and Saipan, Northern Mariana Islands have resumed, providing direct flights from Guangzhou to this U.S. vacation paradise.

Following a 10-month hiatus, the charters are scheduled twice a week departing Guangzhou on Mondays and Fridays. The first flight departed Guangzhou at 7:30pm last Friday, July 3, and arrived on Saipan at 2:40am on Saturday, July 4.

“The resumption of the Guangzhou-Saipan charters is a most welcome move,” said Marianas Visitors Authority managing director Perry Tenorio. “China remains an important market to us, and we hope many Chinese visitors will enjoy our islands while these charters are available.”

The charters are scheduled to run through Sept. 30, 2009. Tinian Dynasty Holidays is operating the charters with China Southern Airlines equipment. TDH and MVA have been working to spur travel by promoting the charter flight resumption in newspaper advertisements, press releases and press conferences in China.

The 757 aircraft has 195-seats, bringing 390 seats available each week from Guangzhou.

TDH and the MVA also welcomed 28 media and travel agents to the Northern Marianas for the charter flight resumption. The media visitedthe islands of Tinian and Saipan and returned to China yesterday, July 7. (MVA)
