Mariano Fajardo saved the best for last, ruling the Saipan Golfers Association December Ace of the Month tournament with a season-record of net 60.
The 25-handicapper defeated 18 other SGA members for the December Ace plum to notch a slot to the Ace of the Aces tournament that will be held this weekend. Fajardo shot a gross 41 on the front nine and had a birdie on the par-4 hole No. 8. He made another birdie on the back nine (par-5 No. 18) to finish with a gross 44 and a total of 85. His net 60 gave him a five-stroke win over Das Krishnan.
Krishnan, a 17-handicapper, got off to a good start with his 3-over par 39 on the front nine, but fumbled on the back with a 7-over par 43 on the back for a gross 82 and net 65.
Completing the Top 3 was Ray San Nicolas, who beat Ray Dela Cruz in the scorecard tiebreak. San Nicolas was consistent with his game at Coral Ocean Point on Sunday, tallying 43 on both nines. After deducting his 9 handicap, San Nicolas ended up with a net 77, the same score of Dela Cruz. Dela Cruz lost the tiebreak, as he had a 45 on the front nine.
