Saipan's Fasi “Quikdraw” Jesse will put his immaculate record on the line when he collides with Guam's Alex Castro in one of the two main events in Trench Wars XI: Redemption.
The Jesse-Castro duel is scheduled for Dec. 18 at the Royal Taga Hall of Saipan World Resort and will be one of the highlights in the Saipan vs. Guam II collision. The other will be the bout between Jason “The Rush” Tarkong and Guam's Gil “The Guamaniac” Melo.
The 29-year-old Jesse won all his first six fights, including a TKO victory over Castro's fellow Guam fighter, Kyle “The Killa” Quinata. Jesse's five other wins were against Joe “Superstar” Lisua (submission), Nate “The Terrible” Flores (split decision), Joe “Hot Shot” Cabrera (rear-naked choke), Guam's Eric “E-Dog” Santos (unanimous decision), and Brian “Shot Gun” Howard (rear-naked choke).
The Trench Tech bet, who is best know for his ground-and-pound fighting style, is excited with his bout against Castro and vowed to give spectators the fight of the night.
“I love competing in MMA and it will be a great experience fighting one of the top fighters in the Marianas in Alex Castro. I've trained hard and I'm ready. I want to win just as bad as he does so it will be the fight of the night,” the 5'7” and 150-lb. fighter said.
The much shorter Castro, who stands 5'6”, lost seven of his 12 fights, but his record should not be the basis to downplay his chances against Jesse.
Trench Wards promoter and Trench Tech president Cuki Alvarez said Castro is one of the most dangerous and experienced MMA fighters in the Marianas.
“Don't let the record fool you. Castro has fought the top fighters from around the world such as Japan, California, Canada, Hawaii, and of course Guam. He has fought and taken to the distance Guam's top fighter in the lightweight class, Baby Joe “The Juggernaut” Taimanglo, losing by split decision both times. He is a man on a mission and vows to break the perfect streak of Trench Tech's top gun, Fasi Jesse,” Alvarez said.
The 29-year-old Castro will be fighting out of Guahan Top Team/ Underworld Xtreme and will be using his free style fighting skills to hand Jesse his first loss.
Four of Castro's five wins were via knockouts. He had knockout wins over Guam's Dave Pangelinan, Chris Duenas, and Kurt Guerrero, and California's Josh Hayes. His other victory was against another Guam fighter Rob Gutterz (rear-naked choke).
The Pacific Xtreme Combat/Geran Haga veteran lost to Hawaii's Kyle Miyahana, Canada's Mark Holst, Japan's Yoichi Fukumoto and Tomonori Taniguchi, and Guam's Taimanglo and Micah Tobias.
