SaeHee Kim conquers December tourney

SaeHee Kim won the CNMI Women’s Golf Association monthly tournament last Dec. 9 at the Coral Ocean Resort.

The former resident of Tinian fired a net score of 72, built around a gross score of 82 (41-41), to beat five other CWGA members for the monthly plum.

The 10-handicapper, who is a graduate of Tinian Elementary School and Tinian Junior/Senior High School, said Saturday’s weather was nice but very windy.

“The course was beautiful with a lot of players playing golf and lots of waiting,” she said.

Kim said other than a hiccup on hole No. 4, it was smooth sailing overall during the December tourney.

“I had trouble in the bunker shot on hole No. 4 and ended up with triple bogey, but all my other shots were okay. I dedicate my win to my family and our friendly CWGA ladies,” said the mother of five.

Yuko Togawa finished second to Kim with her net 73 (gross of 83, 40-43), while Lorraine Babauta cracked the Top 3 with her net 78 (94 gross, 48-46).

The rest of the field, with their scores in the parenthesis, are as follows: Jang EunAe (78), Dol Yamagishi (81), and Kim Lou (83).

The club continues to look for new members as the new season continues. For those interested in becoming a member of CWGA or for more information, contact CWGA president Yuko Togawa at 287-9856, vice president Lorraine Babauta at 287-0621, or treasurer Lou Kim at 783-7317.
