Court cuts sentence of man convicted in prostitution case
Chinese national Zhong Yi Lu who was convicted of promoting prostitution in the second degree will be sent home soon after he was found suffering from a debilitating hip condition which requires surgery.
Associate Superior Court Judge Juan T. Lizama has agreed to modify the two-year sentence on Mr. Lu since the Attorney General’s Office posed no objection to the motion of the defendant to suspend the remaining jail sentence.
The court ordered Mr. Lu to be incarcerated on Feb. 11, 2000 for two years plus a $1,000 fine and $100 assessment fee.
Mr. Lu will be immediately sent back to China as soon as his travel documents arrive since his passport has already expired, according to Chief Criminal Prosecutor Kevin Lynch.
