CUC activates typhoon preparation protocols

The Commonwealth Utilities Corp. has activated its typhoon preparation protocols for power, water, and wastewater in preparation for the onslaught of Tropical Storm Bolaven.

Acting CUC executive director Betty T. Terlaje told Saipan Tribune yesterday afternoon that she has designated CUC compliance officer Vicente Deleon Guerrero to supervise the typhoon preparation protocols for Saipan, Tinian, and Rota.

Terlaje said their line crews are always on standby, whether there is storm or not.

Terlaje said they will have another managers’ briefing this morning, Tuesday, to discuss primarily updates on typhoon preparations.

After the meeting, Terlaje will then rush to the Homeland Security and Emergency Management Office’s Emergency Operations Center, where members of the CNMI Multi-Agency Coordination Team would meet.

Bolaven continues to pose a threat to the CNMI as it is intensifying and possibly becoming a typhoon Tuesday morning.
