UPAA elects new officers

The University of the Philippines Alumni Association-CNMI Chapter has a new set of officers following an election last Saturday.

Elected president is Augustus “Gus” Loste, a 1994 graduate from UP-Diliman.

Loste, who moved to Saipan with his family from California about a year ago, works for the Social Security office in Puerto Rico.

Other elected officers are:
• Vice president – Haidee V. Eugenio
• Secretary – Liberty Dones
• Treasurer – Gilbert Canero
• PRO – Jacq Hernandez, Marconi Calindas
• Auditor – Minerva Maghanoy

Eugenio and Hernandez work at Marianas Variety as assistant editor and photographer, respectively.

Dones and Calindas are Saipan Tribune reporters.

Maghanoy is a retired government employee on Saipan.

Serving as UPAA advisers are past presidents Ching Van Der Veen, Fe Calixterio, and Janet Villagomez, as well as founding member Lupe Sabino.

The elected officers took their oaths immediately after the election held at the Filipino Workers Resource Center of the Nauru building in Susupe.

Philippine Consul Belinda Ante, who is also a member of UPAA, administered the oath of office.
