{"id":100044,"date":"2006-04-23T07:10:00","date_gmt":"2006-04-23T07:10:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/a6ee60a9-1dfb-11e4-aedf-250bc8c9958e"},"modified":"2006-04-23T07:10:00","modified_gmt":"2006-04-23T07:10:00","slug":"a6ee60b9-1dfb-11e4-aedf-250bc8c9958e","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/a6ee60b9-1dfb-11e4-aedf-250bc8c9958e\/","title":{"rendered":"7th Friday Night League title for UIC"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>United International Corp. won the championship of the 17th season of the PBA-Capitol Bowling Center Friday Night League after the team\u2019s mainstays rallied to beat second-place Philippine Consulate General and captured its seventh title, the most in league history.<\/p>\n<p>UIC was victorious in 68.2 percent of its games, going 65.5-30.5 for the season to edge Philippine Consulate General, which wound up with a 64-32 mark in the team standings after winning 66.7 percent of its outings.<\/p>\n<p>UIC received its championship hardware last Friday, April 21, at the league\u2019s venue at Capital Bowling Center in Garapan.<\/p>\n<p>Of the team\u2019s regulars in its first six championships only Ernie Villarin is no longer with UIC and has since been replaced by Alex Cacdac. The rest of the squad is made up of team captain Ross Zapanta, his wife and son Gigi and Raymond, Roman Mamauag, Malou Cabigao, and Ador Dimaano.<\/p>\n<p>Ross Zapanta attributed his team\u2019s success this season to cohesiveness and coordination.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe always make sure that we have five bowlers every game. We also try to learn our opponents\u2019 strengths and weaknesses to better match-up with them,\u201d he said. \u201cEverybody played well and contributed well. It was total team effort once again that gave us the victory. We were trailing early and in mid-season but because of the character of this team, we came back and won it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>UIC\u2019s team captain also thanked the garment company for its whole-hearted support the past 17 seasons of the Friday Night League. In behalf of his players, Ross Zapanta also extended his condolences to UIC\u2019s James Lin for the passing away of his father last Thursday evening.<\/p>\n<p>UIC and Philippine Consulate General were followed by Jos Corporation (59-37), 8 Gam3ler\/Aguilar Law Office (57-39), PTI Reload (54.5-41.5), Voltes V (51.5-44.5), Pogey Points (51-45), OML (49-47), Rajamsbelle (46-50), GOV Corp. (44.5-51.5), Ambyth (43-53), White Coconut Computer (39-57), GPPC Inc.
