Demapan has trimmed DPW\u2019s operational costs by almost 66 percent.<\/p>\n<p>Since he assumed office, Demapan said he initiated cost-saving measures by cutting tremendous operational costs.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe do it more efficiently. There\u2019s no more delay\u2026right now we have a mission there to go and do the job. No delays,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>The secretary cited that he stopped employees from taking department vehicles to their homes and during their lunch.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBefore, they would take the vehicles to their homes and when they go for lunch. After work they just take the vehicles,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>By stopping such use, Demapan said DPS is saving a lot on fuel costs.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey have to remember it\u2019s more difficult now. Previously it\u2019s okay because probably they had a lot of cash. But now we don\u2019t have cash,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>The secretary said he had a meeting with managers and directors in which he informed them about the government\u2019s financial problem.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey understand.
