{"id":100144,"date":"2006-04-26T04:55:00","date_gmt":"2006-04-26T04:55:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/a6f92216-1dfb-11e4-aedf-250bc8c9958e"},"modified":"2006-04-26T04:55:00","modified_gmt":"2006-04-26T04:55:00","slug":"a6f92227-1dfb-11e4-aedf-250bc8c9958e","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/a6f92227-1dfb-11e4-aedf-250bc8c9958e\/","title":{"rendered":"Lecture highlights leadership and effective communication"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Human resource managers received a lecture yesterday on leadership, effective communication, and telephone etiquette.<\/p>\n<p>Peter Eche, the governor\u2019s special adviser for training, was the guest speaker at the Society of Human Resource Management\u2019s Administrative Professionals Day meeting.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cStop managing people like livestock and begin leading them as people,\u201d Eche told the SHRM members.<\/p>\n<p>He also listed the characteristics of a great leader. He cited uncompromising integrity, absence of pettiness, ability to work on things by priority, courage, commitment, infectious enthusiasm, level-headedness in times of crises, and desire to help others grow.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cA good leader should inspire, not simply impress people. When people are impressed, they say \u2018great job.\u2019 But when people are inspired, they want to do things as well as their leader does,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Eche has been conducting customized management programs for various government agencies and business organizations.<\/p>\n<p>He has bachelor\u2019s and master\u2019s degrees in pharmacy and a doctor\u2019s degree in management. He is the author of The Young Shall Grow, and is currently working on a new book, Evolution of Success.<\/p>\n<p>Eche is the executive vice president of John F. Kennedy Center in the Philippines.
