HOUSTON\u2014Continental Airlines unveiled yesterday an animal kenneling facility at George Bush Intercontinental Airport in Houston, Texas\u2014the first airline-owned kennel situated on airport property in the United States. This new service will be offered to the carrier\u2019s four-legged customers that utilize the acclaimed PetSafe service. <\/p>\n
The facility boasts approximately 1,100 square feet of space equipped to provide the ultimate in care for animals traveling on Continental. Services include separate caging areas for all species, separate ventilation systems, exercise runs and full grooming facilities. The kennel, located inside Continental\u2019s Houston cargo facility, will provide care 24-hours a day, seven days a week, for animals that have stopovers or overnights in Houston.<\/p>\n

To operate this unique facility, Continental has retained the services of Kingwood Pet Kamp, the airline\u2019s kennel operator for the last seven years. Kingwood Pet Kamp will provide comprehensive animal handling \u2013 cleaning crates and cages, exercising the animals, rendering emergency care when necessary, and grooming and bathing services on request.<\/p>\n
Continental\u2019s world-renowned PetSafe program features careful handling, reliable, on-time delivery and a commitment to keeping animals healthy, comfortable and secure while they travel. The program offers a dedicated, 24-hour PetSafe desk, confirmed booking prior to departure, constantly monitored weather conditions, and personal handling in climate-controlled vehicles when necessary for connections over Continental\u2019s hubs, and now, an onsite airport kennel service.
