Five new attorneys were admitted yesterday to the CNMI Bar Association during a ceremony at the CNMI Supreme Court.<\/p>\n
Acting Chief Justice Alexandro C. Castro administered the swearing of oath for the new members of the CNMI Bar\u2014John Vincent Reyes Aguon, Imelda U. Antonio, Michael L. Ernest, Samuel John Randall IV, and Victoria King Taitano.<\/p>\n
Aguon, a graduate of Texas Wesleyan University School of Law and currently a legal intern at the Attorney General\u2019s Office Criminal Division, said it feels good to join the local Bar.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt was difficult [Bar examination]. But with the help of friends and co-workers\u2026\u201d said Aguon in an interview with the Saipan Tribune after the ceremony.<\/p>\n
For the aspiring attorneys, Aguon urged them to work hard and contribute something back to the community.<\/p>\n
Antonio, graduate of the Thomas M. Cooley Law School and currently a legal intern at the Public Defender\u2019s Office, said she is excited to join the Bar.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m very happy today especially my friends and family were able to make it. Most of them were able to make it,\u201d Antonio said.<\/p>\n
For those planning to pursue law, Antonio\u2019s advice was \u201cDon\u2019t ever give up. Work hard. It takes hard work, but it\u2019s doable.\u201d<\/p>\n
Ernest, a graduate of the Marquette University Law School and currently the Senate legal counsel, said it\u2019s a relief as the test was very hard.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m just very glad that I did well,\u201d Ernest said as she thanked his wife for supporting him all the time.<\/p>\n
Ernest disclosed that he is going to stay at the Senate to help them out with the current budget troubles then maybe later going into private practice.<\/p>\n
Randall, of product of California Western School of Law and currently an assistant public defender, said passing the Bar is wonderful.<\/p>\n
Randall, who successfully defended many driving while under the influence (DUI) defendants, said he is staying with the Public Defender\u2019s Office to help the people.<\/p>\n
Taitano, of William S. Richardson School of Law at the University of Hawaii at Manoa and presently a staff attorney at the Micronesian Legal Services, said she is happy and honored being sworn in as new Bar member.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
