Rabasto and Kimberly M. Vitug took home the top awards in yesterday\u2019s 6th grade promotional ceremony of William S. Reyes Elementary School.<\/p>\n<p>A total of 92 Kingfishers were promoted with flying colors to the 7th grade, led by Rabasto and Vitug, who won the Commissioner\u2019s Award and Principal\u2019s Award respectively.<\/p>\n<p>Rabasto, who will leave for the Philippines this June to study high school at St. Scholastica\u2019s College, said she was surprised that she took home the day\u2019s most prestigious honor.<\/p>\n<p>Kingfisher Award winner Bolton Arbedul joined Rabasto and Vitug in the Top 10, which also included Mark Kevin A. Magabo, Lyvette Maei F. Lacsina, Zalbert Vance C. Palma, Henritz Joy M. Palma, Ruth Angelyn C. Palacios, Jim Austin M. Lacsin, and Gideon-Patrick T. Lorete.<\/p>\n<p>WSR also honored the Top 5 of all four classes of homeroom advisers Evelyn Perez, Joseph \u201cApril\u201d Parugganan, Niyanina Reyes-Ross, and Melissa Dickinson. Presidential Award for Educational Excellence and Presidential Award for Educational Achievement plums were also given out.<\/p>\n<p>Students also were honored in the subjects of Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, Chamorro Bilingual, and Carolinian Bilingual. Accelerated Reader Award, PeaceBuilder Award, Athlete Award, Citizenship Award, and Perfect Attendance were also given away.<\/p>\n<p>WSR principal Alfred B. Ada applauded the 6th grade students and wished them luck as they transition from elementary to junior high school.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis campus will be here forever and the memories you made with your teachers and your friends will remain in your hearts. You have been with us for the last seven years and this school has provided you with the opportunity to learn from our teachers, staff, and your friends,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>For her part, the school\u2019s counselor Rebecca Flores congratulated the students and also encouraged them to continue their education so that they will become role models of the community.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019ve know these kids from kindergarten and we\u2019ve seen them grow and were witness to the hardships and difficulties that they\u2019ve encountered\u2026 This is a celebration. This is not the end but this is the beginning of another journey as our students transition to junior high school,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>Public School System Acting Commissioner David M.
