He first came to Saipan 10 years ago, fell in love with the place, and couldn\u2019t help it but travel here as often as he could. Yesterday, Hiroyuki Meida made his 100th trip to Saipan.<\/p>\n
Such a remarkable record by a tourist didn\u2019t go unnoticed, with host hotel Hyatt Regency Saipan preparing a grand \u201cHafa Adai\u201d welcome for Meida and his family upon their arrival at the hotel yesterday afternoon.<\/p>\n
Hotel executives, led by general manager Michael von Siebenthal, lined up at the lobby area, along with reception staff and in-house musical band, to greet Meida who came with his wife Yukie, four-year-old daughter Hitomi, and brother Takayuki.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are so happy to have you again!\u201d said the all-smiling executives and staff.<\/p>\n
So why this great interest in Saipan?<\/p>\n
\u201cI love to jetski. This is the best place for jetski,\u201d said Meida, smiling.<\/p>\n
A medical doctor from Tokyo, Meida said he simply loves Saipan\u2019s tropical environment\u2014the sun, the white beach, blue water\u2014and the fact that the island is a short distance from his workplace.<\/p>\n
Saipan is three-hour trip from Narita International Airport in central Japan.<\/p>\n
The family came aboard a Northwest flight yesterday afternoon.<\/p>\n
Since six years ago, Saipan has become more than his jetski place.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s my dating place. It\u2019s a dating trip with my wife,\u201d he said, beaming, while motioning in the direction of his wife.<\/p>\n
The two have a four-year-old child, who now travels with them to Saipan.<\/p>\n
