With continuing efforts to promote the CNMI as a tourist destination in China, Century Tours recently hosted the Xi\u2019an TV media group from May 20-23, 2006. The media group consisted of the editor-in-chief, one photographer, and two reporters from the Xi\u2019an TV Station from Shan Xi Province, China. <\/p>\n
During their visit and in an effort to better understand what the CNMI has to offer, the media group requested an interview with the Marianas Visitors Authority. <\/p>\n
Editor-in-chief Zhang Bae Kun interviewed MVA acting deputy managing director Martin Duenas and MVA marketing manager Wayne Pangelinan. One of the questions asked of MVA was how the Marianas \u2013 Saipan, Tinian, Rota will be marketed in Northwest China. <\/p>\n
\u201cWe are focusing on creating awareness in the larger cities in China initially. We rely on organizations as Xi\u2019an TV to help us as we promote the CNMI in Northwest China,\u201d said Duenas. <\/p>\n
Kun said that, with a population of over 4 million, Xi\u2019an city has no beaches due to its central location in China, thus the CNMI is an attractive destination. She also expressed her excitement and interest in the CNMI. The coverage of Saipan will be aired in the Xi\u2019 an TV program entitled \u201cHappy Travel.\u201d The program is aired daily and will be featuring the Marianas \u2013 Saipan, Tinian, and Rota five times in the month of June 2006. Four million viewers are expected to see the program.<\/p>\n
