Raymond Palacios (Cov-Saipan), then the chairman of the House Committee on Education, was arrested in late October during a drug sting operation. He was allegedly caught selling $200 worth of methamphetamine or \u201cice\u201d to a confidential source of the Drug Enforcement Task Force and Department of Public Safety.<\/p>\n<p>Palacios was subsequently released on bail. He pleaded not guilty.<\/p>\n<p>At his initial court appearance, Superior Court associate judge Perry B. Inos learned that the 48-year-old Palacios has an outstanding bench warrant issued by the Superior Court on May 5, 2011, for not appearing at a civil case filed by Bank of Saipan against the lawmaker.<\/p>\n<p>On Dec. 28, Palacios spent less than two hours at the Department of Public Safety after the court issued a bench warrant for his arrest for not appearing at a hearing scheduled a week before in connection with a consolidated 11-year-old civil case. He was released from DOC after posting $250 cash bail.<\/p>\n<p>Palacios immediately resigned as chairman of the Committee on Education after he was arrested on \u201cice\u201d charges.
