{"id":105956,"date":"2006-11-10T18:25:00","date_gmt":"2006-11-10T18:25:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/a9a9a581-1dfb-11e4-aedf-250bc8c9958e"},"modified":"2006-11-10T18:25:00","modified_gmt":"2006-11-10T18:25:00","slug":"a9a9a592-1dfb-11e4-aedf-250bc8c9958e","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/a9a9a592-1dfb-11e4-aedf-250bc8c9958e\/","title":{"rendered":"No more payroll outsourcing for CPA"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>To save on costs and avoid any more fund mess, the Commonwealth Ports Authority has decided against outsourcing the agency\u2019s payroll processing to another company.<\/p>\n<p>CPA comptroller George Palican said in an interview Wednesday that the agency has opted to handle its own payroll processing rather than hire a company to do the job, which it used to do with Information Data Services. That company currently faces federal investigation.<\/p>\n<p>And to make the job easier, he said that CPA had just purchased a computer software for accounting.<\/p>\n<p> \u201cWe\u2019re not outsourcing. We just want to do an in-house accounting. Its money saving,\u201d said Palican.<\/p>\n<p>IDS allegedly failed to transfer over $350,000 of CPA\u2019s retirement contributions to the CNMI government.<\/p>\n<p>IDS was also handling the payroll processing of other companies on Saipan including Saipan World Resort, Hotel Nikko Saipan, and Pacific Islands Club.<\/p>\n<p>The Office of Public Auditor has joined the investigation, looking in particular whether IDS had paid its clients\u2019 taxes.<\/p>\n<p>Meantime, Palican said that it bought the accounting software MAS 90 for $4,714 from White Coconut Computer Service.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe asked for quotes from three companies for payroll software.
