The countdown for 2007 season of the yearly Mobil Oil Marianas Invitational Co-ed Basketball League has barely begun and yet organizers behind the Commonwealth\u2019s only co-ed basketball league are already starting preparations.<\/p>\n
Mobil cage league coordinator Marvin Deocares is calling on all participating teams to send representatives for today\u2019s organizational meeting set at Aqua Resort Club\u2019s Raraina Restaurant at 12pm. <\/p>\n
Team representatives from defending champion Aqua Resort, Fiesta Resort & Spa Saipan, Hyatt Regency Saipan, Microl Corp., Commonwealth Utilities Corp., Commonwealth Ports Authority, McDonald\u2019s, Saipan Ice & Water Co., host Mobil, and newcomers Saipan World Resort and Joeten Enterprises are required to attend the meeting. <\/p>\n
The Mobil co-ed basketball league was formed in 2001 to give the giant oil company a venue to fellowship with its client companies. <\/p>\n
Since its inaugural season, the cagefest has grown in popularity and has attracted a following made up mostly of employees and staff of teams participating in league. <\/p>\n
It has even survived the demise of league pioneer team Pacific Development Inc. (the 2003 champion) and that year\u2019s second runner-up Pacific Island Aviation.<\/p>\n
Last year, Aqua Resort leaned on its stratospheric frontline and bench depth to defeat pennant champion Microl in a one-game finals, 97-81. <\/p>\n
The Mobil crown was previously worn by THC (2001), Microl (2002), PDI (2003), Aqua Resort Club (2004), and Fiesta Resort (2005).<\/p>\n
