{"id":106818,"date":"2006-12-07T21:08:00","date_gmt":"2006-12-07T21:08:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/a9df1d3d-1dfb-11e4-aedf-250bc8c9958e"},"modified":"2006-12-07T21:08:00","modified_gmt":"2006-12-07T21:08:00","slug":"a9df1d56-1dfb-11e4-aedf-250bc8c9958e","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/a9df1d56-1dfb-11e4-aedf-250bc8c9958e\/","title":{"rendered":"EMO: Pagan eruption possible"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>There are indications that Pagan Volcano may erupt, warned the Emergency Management Office yesterday.<\/p>\n<p>EMO raised the possibility of volcanic eruption based on information from the Washington Volcano Observatory that reported low level steam and ash emissions from Pagan.<\/p>\n<p>EMO said Pagan residents reported a 200-foot ash cloud, with ash falling like rain.<\/p>\n<p>Pagan residents, however, did not feel any tremor and did not hear any explosions or rumblings. There are about 20 residents on Pagan.<\/p>\n<p>EMO said Pagan residents will experience sulfur-like odor and they are urged to minimize outdoor activities to prevent ailment due to the ash emission.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAircraft should remain alert for possible eruptions, steam, or ash clouds  and report any sightings to Air Tower Control,\u201d the agency said.<\/p>\n<p>The EMO and the U.S. Geological Survey are monitoring Pagan activities.<\/p>\n<p>Pagan Volcano last erupted in the late \u201980s, spewing out volcanic ash.<\/p>\n<p>Another big explosion occurred in May 2003, with increased activity beginning March 2004.
