{"id":106942,"date":"2006-12-12T21:00:00","date_gmt":"2006-12-12T21:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/a9e033e7-1dfb-11e4-aedf-250bc8c9958e"},"modified":"2006-12-12T21:00:00","modified_gmt":"2006-12-12T21:00:00","slug":"a9e033f8-1dfb-11e4-aedf-250bc8c9958e","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/a9e033f8-1dfb-11e4-aedf-250bc8c9958e\/","title":{"rendered":"Nehemiah breaks into win column"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Nehemiah finally hit paydirt Monday night routing Gideon, 99-84, at the CIM-FCC Basketball Court in Gualo Rai for its first win in the 2nd CIM-FCC Inter-Color Basketball League-Genesis Cup.<br \/>\nBig men Melvin Capalad and Reynaldo \u201cBadong\u201d Camacho went to work early, as the duo combined for 20 points to help Nehemiah open a whopping 18-point lead, 32-14, after the first quarter.<\/p>\n<p>Capalad and Camacho got a lift from John Mark Llagas and birthday boy Ruel Cayanan in the second, as the two guards fired four and five points, respectively. <\/p>\n<p>With all four players having their way against a porous Gideon defense, Nehemiah continued to dominate the game and rested at halftime ahead by the same margin, 55-37.<\/p>\n<p>It was more of the same in the third, as Cayanan heated up the<br \/>\nnet for eight more points, while the rest of his teammates provided stout defense, which allowed Nehemiah to enter the fourth and final quarter comfortably ahead by 22 points, 79-57.<br \/>\nRandy Toto tried to rally winless Gideon in the payoff period, but his 14 points in the final 10 minutes of the ballgame wasn\u2019t enough, as Nehemiah completed the 15-point drubbing.<\/p>\n<p>Camacho went on to lead the now 1-2 Nehemiah team with 33 points, while Capalad added 21. Llagas and Cayanan also totaled 14 points apiece in the victory. Toto was the highpoint man for 0-4 Gideon with 20 markers.<\/p>\n<p>In the second game, Sonny Lerio shot the lights out from outside, while Ruther Demigillo dominated the inside as Elijah took the starch out of Samuel, 84-67.<\/p>\n<p>Elijah got the ball rolling by limiting Samuel to seven points in<br \/>\nfirst stanza, 17-7, before taking the half, 36-24. Elijah put on a shooting display in the third and sped away for a 55-34 lead with a quarter to go before topping it with the 17-point victory.<br \/>\nLerio and Demegillo paced Elijah with 24 and 21 markers, respectively, while J.P. Kim led the way for Samuel with 14 points.<\/p>\n<p>The 2nd CIM-FCC Inter-Color Basketball League-Genesis Cup continues tomorrow with Daniel taking on Caleb in the first game.
