Police yesterday disclosed that the naked woman who was found dead at Laulau Beach has already been identified through her fingerprint records.<\/p>\n
Department of Public Safety acting spokesman Sgt. Thomas A. Blas Jr. said the victim was identified as Bao Ying Chen, a 41-year-old Chinese housewife.<\/p>\n
Sources said the victim had been arrested twice in 2001 and in 2003 for allegedly engaging in prostitution activities in western Garapan. Documents from the Superior Court confirmed the information about Chen\u2019s previous arrests on prostitution charges. Court papers, however, indicated that one case was dismissed in 2001, while the court acquitted her during a bench trial in the second case in 2004. She was later married to a real estate broker.<\/p>\n
Blas said that DPS received on Monday the findings of Guam Police Department\u2019s Forensic Science Division, which compared and confirmed a match of the fingerprint records of Chen to the post-mortem fingerprint records of the victim, who was then identified only as \u201cJane Doe.\u201d<\/p>\n
Blas said detectives working on the homicide case submitted the records of \u201cJane Doe,\u201d along with Chen\u2019s records to the GPD Forensic Science Division for fingerprint comparison and identification.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe results matched the two as the same person. \u2018Jane Doe\u2019 is Ms. Chen, Bao Ying,\u201d the DPS spokesman said.
\nBlas said detectives were investigating Chen as a missing person since Nov. 27, 2006.<\/p>\n
Two local fishermen found the lifeless body of the victim along the shoreline of Laulau Beach in the afternoon of Nov. 23.
\nAn autopsy determined that there was foul play and that the victim had died of asphyxiation by drowning. She reportedly had a distinguishing mark of a red rose tattoo on the left chest. <\/p>\n
Blas said detectives are still actively working on the case and are asking for the public to call the Crime Stoppers hotline at 234-7272 for any information relating to the murder of Chen.<\/p>\n
