{"id":121014,"date":"2008-03-20T21:12:00","date_gmt":"2008-03-20T21:12:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/af70402d-1dfb-11e4-aedf-250bc8c9958e"},"modified":"2008-03-20T21:12:00","modified_gmt":"2008-03-20T21:12:00","slug":"af70403e-1dfb-11e4-aedf-250bc8c9958e","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/af70403e-1dfb-11e4-aedf-250bc8c9958e\/","title":{"rendered":"Ayuyus, Dolphins aim to boost lead in HS canoe race"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The high schools of Kagman and Marianas aim to increase their respective leads when the weekly High School Outrigger Canoe races returns tomorrow at Kilili Beach Park.<\/p>\n<p>The high school canoe season started last month and Saturday\u2019s races will begin at 9am.<\/p>\n<p>The Kagman Ayuyus and the Lady Dolphins of MHS currently lead the four-team field, each garnering 32 and 38 points after the 500m and 1,500m short distance and long distance events.<\/p>\n<p>Kagman holds a 10-point lead over closest pursuer MHS\u2019 22 markers, while the Saipan Southern Manta Rays and the Mt. Carmel School Knights collected 19 and 15 points.<\/p>\n<p>SSHS improved its standings after earning 10 points for winning last week\u2019s long distance race with a time of 43 minutes and 20 seconds. Mt Carmel was 26 seconds behind (43:56) for an additional six points.<\/p>\n<p>Kagman (44:48) and MHS (45:15) placed third and fourth to collect four and two points apiece.<\/p>\n<p>In the girls division, MHS now has a 12-point lead after topping last week\u2019s long distance race with a time of 51:52, while Mt. Carmel, which is also second in the overall points race with 26, came in second (52:10).<\/p>\n<p>KHS earned four points for placing third (53:07), while SSHS had two after finishing fourth (53:11).<\/p>\n<p>MHS now has a total of 38 points followed by MCS\u2019 26, while KHS has 12 and SSHS nine.<\/p>\n<p>Organizers are looking for individuals who will help them hold the race.
