Thomas Blas said the four Kawasaki motorcycles had been repaired and are now back on the streets.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat\u2019s a big thing for us, for the department as a whole because using the motorcycles out there\u2026the agility of the motorcycles to conduct enforcement is very vital,\u201d Blas said.<\/p>\n<p>Driving huge cars in traffic enforcement, he said, would consume a lot of fuel compared to motorcycles.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe motorcycles will help us in the fuel reduction costs,\u201d said the traffic commander.<\/p>\n<p>Blas said minor maintenance problems were immediately conducted.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut right now they\u2019re finally back and running and since [Wednesday] I started taking them out for test runs and doing other enforcement,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>DPS Commissioner Claudio Norita said that motorcycle usage is very efficient for traffic enforcers because of the work they perform.<\/p>\n<p>Norita said that for Patrol, the sports utility vehicles are more versatile in off road or back road trips.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe don\u2019t have the paved roads like in the mainland across the board, so the use of SUVs or 4&#215;4 [truck] is more prudent for them. For traffic officers, using motorcycles are versatile in enforcing traffic laws,\u201d he pointed out.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cGetting in our traffic with motorcycles is easier.
