I don&#8217;t think it&#8217;s worth the expense,\u201d said Dela Cruz.<\/p>\n<p>Dela Cruz noted, however, that he prefers to do job referrals for unemployed Tinian residents \u201crather than put together a job fair that&#8217;s going to be attended by very few people.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The mayor&#8217;s remarks come weeks after two job fairs on Saipan by the CNMI Department of Commerce in October and the Department of Labor early this month.<\/p>\n<p>Both events attracted over a thousand U.S. workers looking for jobs, most of which have been announced in accordance to the final rule governing CNMI-only transitional workers.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs to put together a job fair on Tinian, if I have the money I&#8217;ll do it,\u201d said Dela Cruz. \u201cBut with the limited budget, I think it&#8217;s not necessary.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>According to Dela Cruz, unemployed Tinian residents have been referred to the Tinian Dynasty Hotel &amp; Casino, which remains the biggest private sector employer on the island.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDynasty has been very gracious, they&#8217;ve been very supportive, and they&#8217;re hiring local people,\u201d he said, adding that its representatives always goes to the Tinian High School and encourage graduating students to apply for a job there.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Clarissa David Reporter The money that will be used to host a job fair&#8230;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[4],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-12157","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-local-news"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/12157","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/1"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=12157"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/12157\/revisions"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=12157"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=12157"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=12157"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
