{"id":122455,"date":"2008-05-05T20:58:00","date_gmt":"2008-05-05T20:58:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/b00c6af1-1dfb-11e4-aedf-250bc8c9958e"},"modified":"2008-05-05T20:58:00","modified_gmt":"2008-05-05T20:58:00","slug":"b00c6b01-1dfb-11e4-aedf-250bc8c9958e","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/b00c6b01-1dfb-11e4-aedf-250bc8c9958e\/","title":{"rendered":"WASC team on island to evaluate Hopwood"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Members of a visiting team from the Western Association of Accrediting Schools and Colleges are currently doing a two-day review on the accreditation status of Hopwood Junior High School, whose six-year accreditation expires this year.<\/p>\n<p>Robert Maez, chairperson of the accrediting team, arrived on Sunday with members Richard Anbe and Roberta Abaday. They met with parents of HJHS students that same evening. <\/p>\n<p>Yesterday, the team met with PSS officials Tim Thornburgh, Federal Programs adviser, and Charles Kenty, who is associate commissioner for Administrative Services and director of Finance. <\/p>\n<p>According to HJHS principal Christine Tudela-Masga, the WASC representatives are also inquiring about the school\u2019s academic programs and available resources. They will also offer recommendations that would help the school maintain its accreditation.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s all part of the accreditation process,\u201d she said. <\/p>\n<p>The WASC representatives are scheduled to present their report of their findings and recommendations this afternoon at 3pm at the Hopwood campus.  <\/p>\n<p>Anbe and Abaday are scheduled to leave later tonight while Maez will remain on island to visit the Gregorio T.
