Investigators have already identified the driver of a getaway vehicle used by Gustavo Ybanez Jr., the arrested suspect in last week’s robbery during which a female Japanese tourist was dragged several meters by a car.<\/p>\n

Sources at the Department of Public Safety disclosed yesterday that the driver of the vehicle used in the robbery was Oscar Porras Jr., a cousin of Ybanez.<\/p>\n

On Tuesday night, police arrested 33-year-old Porras for allegedly stealing a case of beer from Grand Market on Lower Navy Hill, while Ybanez was apprehended for the Garapan robbery.<\/p>\n

Sources said that Porras posted bail after a hearing on Wednesday and since yesterday police have been hunting him in connection with the Garapan robbery.<\/p>\n

This developed as Ybanez allegedly confessed to detectives that it was Porras who was the driver of their getaway vehicle-a dark-colored Nissan Pathfinder.<\/p>\n

Reportedly after the robbery, Ybanez and Porras split the $350 cash they found in the victim’s bag. Ybanez gave $150 cash to Porras.<\/p>\n

The Nissan Pathfinder actually belongs to Porras’ girlfriend, sources said.<\/p>\n

Ybanez allegedly admitted that after grabbing the tourist’s bag, he ran on the sidewalk and jumped into the front passenger side of the Nissan Pathfinder that Porras had parked in front of Bobby’s Cadillacs on Beach Road, Garapan, on Nov. 16, Wednesday night.<\/p>\n

In that robbery, the victim, Miki Takamatsu, suffered bruises and scratches on the left arm, fingers, and right knee.<\/p>\n

Takamatsu and her boyfriend were walking on the pathway near Bobby Cadillacs when a man came from behind them and grabbed her purse.<\/p>\n

Takamatsu chased the suspect and held on to the rear passenger door, but the vehicle sped off. The tourist fell to the ground and was dragged several meters. The vehicle’s rear tire also ran over her left arm.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
