The federal court has imposed no bail \u201cat this time\u201d for a woman who was charged with trafficking less than a gram of methamphetamine or \u201cice.\u201d<\/p>\n
U.S. District Court for the NMI Chief Judge Alex R. Munson granted the U.S. government\u2019s motion to deny bail for Xiao Feng Li.<\/p>\n
During Thursday\u2019s hearing, Munson remanded Li back into the custody of the U.S. Marshal.<\/p>\n
Defense attorney F. Matthew Smith reserved the defendant\u2019s right to have a bail hearing at a future date.<\/p>\n
Li, a Chinese, pleaded not guilty to the charge of possession with intent to distribute a controlled substance.<\/p>\n
Munson accepted Li\u2019s plea and set the jury trial for Aug. 25, 2008 at 9am.<\/p>\n
According to the indictment, on or about April 12, 2008, Li distributed and possessed 0.76 net grams of methamphetamine hydrochloride.<\/p>\n
No other details were given.<\/p>\n
A federal agent served on Thursday the arrest warrant to Li at the Department of Corrections where she was detained after narcotics officers arrested her for drug charges.<\/p>\n
