The reverse salt water osmosis system at the new adult prison in Susupe is now operational, according to Department of Corrections Commissioner Lino S. Tenorio.<\/p>\n
Tenorio told Saipan Tribune that the new prison has its own water supply now as the saltwater osmosis system is running.<\/p>\n
Tenorio, however, clarified that the water is not potable or drinkable.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe were able to have water dispensers all over the facility so that the inmates and officers can drink,\u201d the commissioner said.<\/p>\n
The reverse osmosis system is one of the state-of-the art technologies installed at the new prison.<\/p>\n
The system was built for the purpose of producing potable water to accommodate the operational needs at DOC.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, Tenorio said they are looking at several programs in place in the next few weeks at DOC.<\/p>\n
He tapped Arnold Seman to be in charge of the inmate\/officer incentive program for both inmates and Corrections officers.<\/p>\n
At this early, he said, DOC is now looking forward to participating in the annual Flame Tree Festival.<\/p>\n
Tenorio said DOC had participated twice in the annual Liberation Day Parade. <\/p>\n
Last year\u2019s Liberation Day Parade, DOC won second place in the float competition, but this year they grabbed the first place.<\/p>\n
Tenorio said last year they had only two weeks\u2019 notice about their participation, but this year they had two months\u2019 preparation period.<\/p>\n
