The 2008 Budweiser Saipan Major League and the Inaugural PTI Inter-Government Business Basketball League may soon play their games in the weekends as the power interruption at the Oleai Sports Complex continue to wreak havoc on their schedules.<\/p>\n
This, as both leagues have cancelled their remaining play dates for this week as the Commonwealth Utilities Corp. have yet to change the intermittent power outages at the Gilbert C. Ada Gymnasium and Francisco M. Palacios Baseball Field.<\/p>\n
SML commissioner Tony Rogolofoi, for one, has had enough of the unpredictable load shedding schedule and has in fact scheduled two playoff games this coming Saturday. <\/p>\n
\u201cAll games this week are cancelled due to load shedding schedule that has drastically affected the Budweiser SML playoff games. Because of the power situation, we have decided to play games on Saturday, Aug. 9,\u201d the NMASA Hall of Famer said in an email to the Saipan Tribune.<\/p>\n
He said Game 2 between unbeaten and pennant champion Rock Steady and fourth seed San Roque D-9ers will be played at 10am this Saturday, while Game 3 between second seed Ford Rangers and No. 3 Tanapag Falcons will follow at 2pm.<\/p>\n
Rogolofoi added that, if necessary, Game 3 of the Rock Steady and D-9ers best-of-three series will be played on Monday beginning at 6:30pm\u2014weather and CUC permitting. <\/p>\n
However, the former Division of Sports and Recreation director said should the Rock Steady-D-9ers series end on Saturday, then the best-of-five championship series between Rock Steady and the winner of the Rangers\/Falcons series will start on Monday, Aug. 11. <\/p>\n
\u201cOtherwise, the championship will start on Wednesday. SML apologizes for the inconveniences but it\u2019s out of our hands,\u201d said Rogolifoi.<\/p>\n
Rogolofoi\u2019s counterpart in the Inaugural PTI Inter-Government Business Basketball League, coordinator Joey Dela Cruz, meanwhile, said that the roundball competition is definitely considering playing their games Saturday mornings.<\/p>\n
He said he will soon call a meeting of all participating teams and ask for a consensus on how best to solve the scheduling problems the power outages have brought to the PTI-sponsored competition among government agencies and two teams from private companies.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
